I was in Jakarta about 4 days ago and had a lot of fun with the students from all over Indonesia. It was so nice to meet people with unique and different cultures with us. I also met some great ETAs there. Although I didn't win the competition, I have gotten so much fun and experiences through this event. So, I'm gonna tell you guys what I had from the first until last day in Jakarta.
Day 1 (March 15):
I went to Jakarta with my ETA, Choumika Simonis. We arrived at about 11 AM and checked in at Gran Melia hotel. It was the best hotel I have ever visited!
Super big LCD TV |
The cozy bathroom |
Here's the bed |
I went for lunch with the ETAs (Choumika, Sarah, MayMay) and 2 other students (Gerald and Novia). We had nasi padang which was so expensive I think. It's 35 for each person! I can get 2 plates here in Pontianak. After lunch, Choumika and I went to buy groceries at Carefour for my performance.
We went for dinner in Mutiara Ballroom at night. The foods are just sooooo damn great! I had lasagna and smoked salmon. The desserts are also great! And you know what, the ambassador of US (with his wife) and the founder of AMINEF sat in a table with me! It's been an honor to sit with them. We took picture and shared lot of thoughts about US and the scholarship.
Day 2 (March 16):
THE COMPETITION DAY! I talked too fast for my speech that maybe they didn't get what I mean. I was so nervous and I didn't know why I couldn't control myself. I met a lot of friends that day (Farly the singer, Alvin the beatboxer, Berry the adviser and Ziah the noisy girl)
We went for bowling at night. It was my first time and I got myself addicted to bowling! I really look forward to do it again!
So here's me and Choumika at JBC (Jakarta Bowling Center) |
Day 3 (March 17):
Tour Jakarta. I had Western and Japanese cuisines for breakfast today.
Sushi and smoked salmon |
Beans, bacon, sausages, plain pizza and croissant |
I did eat a lot, of course. I didn't want to miss the chance to try all the foods there! FREE FOODS!!! lol
So we went to Sea World, Museum Fatahilah, then Monas. I didn't take many pictures because my phone was dead.
With what-is-it-called? |
SO BIG!!! |
We had farewell party at the night. We made videos of Harlem Shake and also the messages for the next generation of WORDS competition.
Day 4 (March 18):
I got back to Pontianak. I had a very terrible dizziness and feeling of throwing up. I didn't know what happened to me. I was just like drunk until now. I'm typing but I still feel so 'drunk'.
This was a very wonderful experience. Meeting new friends from other places, sharing thoughts with the US ambassador, having great breakfasts, cozy hotel for sleep, funny yet cool ETAs. I will not forget it! And I will always miss you guys! See you next time!
